Boostwizard: Failed To Parse Wizard Script

Recommended Posts

SUMMARY: Boostwizard: Failed to parse wizard script

Running Boostwizard in BoostC 7.30 consistantly gives an error when starting up.

I suspect there is some prerequisite, patch, or library missing.

Operating system: Windows 7 32-bit
Software: BoostC 7.30

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1) Installed BoostC 7.30 (no previous version)
Used defaults for everything EXCEPT unchecked "enable build server"
It installed VC++ 2008 Redistributable
NOTE: VC++ 2005 redis. was installed...
NOTE: Removing everything (including VC++ 2005 redis.), reboot, and resintall did not help
NOTE: including VC++ 2010 redis. did not help, independently installing VC++ 2008 redis. did not help
NOTE: No registry cleanup was done after uninstalls

2) When SourceBoost IDE starts,
click: Workspace- Standalone project- Project wizard

3) "boostwizard" pop-up window appears with the error: Failed to parse wizard script

4) Click: OK... a small delay, and no project is loaded.

EXPECTATION:

Did not expect error, did expect "Boost Wizard" to start.

BoostC 7.2x also fails, BoostC 7.05.1 DOES work.

7.05.1 uses VC++ 2005 redis. instead of 2008.

Same problem

Win 10

boost 7.30

Steps to reproduce:

  • start a new workspace
  • Workspace -> Add Project to Workspace -> Project Wizard

...all you get is a small alert box that says "failed to parse wizard script"

Same here with xp, vista, w7, w10.

I remember that this worked in previous versions, 6.97 for instance.

Hi

Last time I saw it working, I was testing Sourceboost for the first time, with a free install of some 6.xx version.

It had a very limited list of PICs to choose from, only a handfull of them, not even close to the list of suported devices.

The results I got from it, was a very simple skeleton to start, Very far from something really usefull.

It gave the impression of a first approach to something that never passed the "alfa" stage, and nobody really cared about.

I never bothered too much with it, and it didn't stop me from buying a BoostC licence.

Anyhow, I'm still to find a wizard that produces, at least, a half-decent piece of code.

And this doesn't aplies to Sourceboost only, It aplies to most of the "microcontroler" dev tools.

In the desktop and web worlds, things are a little better, but nevertheless, its still easy to write smaller and faster code than what wizards produce.

Just my 2 cents.....

Best regards

Jorge

Same problem , why no one answer to fix it ?
