Winsock For Pics

Recommended Posts

I have to write a PIC-based application that resides a private LAN. This devices has to communicate to a server periodically and communicate information. The connection has to be dynamic, which means the device may come and go. It seems easiest to write the server using MFC winsock classes. Does anyone know of an implementation of WinSock written to run a PIC 18F or any other PICs?

WinSock doesn't depend on hardware running on the other side of the connection. Communication is based on either TCP or UDP protocol. On PIC writing UDP support is easier than TCP because UDP requires much less code (but from other hand UDP isn't that reliable so you must use other lind of flow control over UDP)

Pavel
