Compile Time

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to compile a very small project which basically blinks a LED on timer events.

The project takes about 10-15 min to compile.

I have a PII computer with 128M Ram, still the IDE and two boostC processes take 100% CPU for a very long time.

I was wondering if I'm the only one suffering from this

Yes you need a bit faster cpu.

A PII is pretty dated for almost anything, but I think compilation is slow on my 1Ghz box. Is the compiler going to get faster when its out of beta?

Compiler needs 2 things: cpu speed and memory. (How much memory has your pc installed). The only thing we can do now to speed it up is to move protection from compiler to linker. We need to check if this will consderably speed build up.

Pavel
